Paramount Theatre
The Paramount Theatre is downtown Denver’s dazzling Art Deco movie palace, a 1930 landmark on Glenarm Place where you can catch concerts, comedy and live shows beneath silk tapestries and gilded details. Its glowing vertical PARAMOUNT sign is one of the most recognizable sights just off the 16th Street pedestrian mall.
Paramount Theatre in Denver, CO
Designed by Denver architect Temple Hoyne Buell in the Zig Zag Art Deco style, the Paramount opened on August 29, 1930, with the film Let’s Go Native, and some 20,000 people turned out for opening day. Its treasures include painted silk tapestries by Vincent Mondo and a Wurlitzer twin-console organ with more than 1,600 pipes, one of only two twin-console Wurlitzers still in place in the United States; its sister organ is at Radio City Music Hall. The theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, saved by Historic Denver in 1981 and designated a Denver landmark in 1988. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has owned it since 2002.
Today the 1,865-seat theatre hosts touring musicians, comedians and special events. Tickets are sold online at ParamountDenver.com and through Ticketmaster, and all tickets are mobile. The box office opens during events to help guests but does not sell tickets. Accessible seating is on the main level, while the mezzanine and balcony are reached by stairs. Before the show, stroll Denver’s 16th Street or grab a drink at the historic Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, both just a few blocks away.
