Pueblo Riverwalk

The Pueblo Riverwalk, officially the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (HARP), is a free 32-acre waterfront in the heart of downtown Pueblo. Its 1.3 miles of paths follow the Arkansas River channel past restaurants, shops, public art and gardens, and narrated boat rides run in the warmer months.

Pueblo Riverwalk in Pueblo, CO

The Arkansas River has been central to Pueblo for more than 300 years. In the 1920s, after a devastating flood destroyed much of the city, the river was diverted away from downtown. In 1991 a group of residents set out to build a riverwalk inspired by San Antonio’s famous River Walk, and in 1993 the City of Pueblo formed the HARP Commission to lead a citizen-funded effort. The Riverwalk opened in 1999, bringing river water back through the center of Pueblo. Its newest chapter, the Pueblo Toyota Riverwalk Boathouse and Channel Extension, was completed in 2026. It adds about 500 feet of channel toward Santa Fe Avenue and a two-story boathouse with restrooms, ticketing, concessions and a rooftop deck. Today more than 500,000 people visit each year for festivals, concerts, weddings and evening strolls.

The Riverwalk grounds are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and it’s free to visit. Restaurants, shops and the boathouse keep their own hours. The 25-minute narrated excursion boat ride is the classic way to see it, and you can bring a beer, seltzer or soft drink along. Tickets are $12 for adults and kids 13 and up, and $10 for kids 4 to 12, seniors 60 and older and military, with children under 2 free. The regular boat season runs from May through September and has ended for 2026, but boats return Oct. 24 for Fright Night on the Riverwalk, and private rides are available by request. Leashed dogs are welcome on the paths and even on the boats. Bikes and scooters aren’t allowed on the pink channel-level sidewalks, so walk your wheels there.
